Driving schools in Germany are among the companies that earn quite well. This is also shown by the statistics on driving licences issued. According to Statista, the German online portal for statistics, the number of driving licences issued was around 41.7 million. That is more than 1.5 million more than in the previous year.
That's actually a pretty modest number. The measures against the coronavirus have also had a major impact on this sector, with the result that driving schools have had to reckon with fewer customers for around two years. However, a comparison with 2006 shows us how popular they are for Germans. The number of driving licences issued almost doubled during this period.
Moreover, the number of driving licences does not reflect the total number of customers. Many people re-apply because they are unable to pass either the theory or practical tests. The first driving licence was issued to coach drivers in Germany and perhaps in many other countries.
